American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) stepdown position requiring an active AZ or compact RN license and recent PCU experience.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a hospital-based Progressive Care Unit (stepdown) within an acute care settingUnit consists of 14 beds, with a typical 1 : 3-4 nurse-to-patient ratio depending on patient acuityPatient population includes cardiovascular, post-surgical, chronic vent, renal, and complex medical casesUtilizes equipment such as Philips Cardiac Monitors, telemetry, Medtronic pacemakers, invasive monitoring, Pyxis, and Cerner EMR12-hour shifts (7A-7P or 7P-7A), three shifts per week, with two weekend shifts per pay periodFloats to ICU preferred and required to float to Medical / Surgical Telemetry units as neededCare for patients with a variety of cardiovascular, post-cardiac surgery, and medical stepdown needsHigh-acuity, fast-paced environment involving patients post-cardiac cath, open heart surgery, STEMI, NSTEMI, alcohol withdrawal, chronic vents, and renal diseaseOrientation includes hospital training and skills validationNavy scrubs and business-appropriate hair color requiredTesting on sterile technique for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes conducted on first orientation dayFirst time travelers will be considered for this position\n \n Requirements\n
Active, unencumbered AZ or compact (NLC) RN license required at the time of consideration (no pending licenses accepted)Minimum of 1 year recent PCU or stepdown RN experienceCurrent and active ACLS and BLS certifications requiredDemonstrated skills in EKG interpretation, IV cardiac medication administration, and experience with peritoneal dialysis, chronic vents, chest tubes, PCA pumps, transvenous pacing, and arterial or venous sheath managementMust pass a dysrhythmia exam (with 2 attempts) prior to contract signingMust provide two references : one supervisor from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 yearsCopy of driver's license requiredCandidates may not have been a full time, part time, or PRN employee at any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past yearPermanent residence must be at least 50 miles from the facility\n Benefits\n
