Job Summary
This Work study position is designed to provide SLCC students with the unique opportunity to work within the Gender and Sexuality Student Resource Center (GSSRC) to increase access to higher education for the historically marginalized student populations we serve.
Work study will assist the GSSRC in providing personalized guidance, mentorship, and support for Womxn and all students.
Work study will represent the GSSRC and have the opportunity to work with departments and partners across the college. Essential Responsibilities and Duties Work-study will :
- Support and assist students to navigate SLCC, with a primary focus on Womxn students.
- Assist in the planning, coordinating, promoting, and executing events and programs hosted by the GSSRC.
- Mentor and co-advise the GSSRC Peer Mentors.
- Help manage the GSSRC social media.
- Assist the GSSRC coordinator in trainings and workshops as needed.
- Assist in outreach and follow up with coordinator’s student populations.
- Engage students who visit the GSSRC to answer questions and concerns
- Perform clerical functions such as data entry, spreadsheets and other functions as assigned
- Coach students in utilizing MySuccess platform (e.g., how to schedule appointments, how to navigate My Success Network, etc.)
- Other duties as assigned
Essential Responsibilities and Duties Continued
- Current Salt Lake Community College Student
- 2.0 GPA or higher
- At least 9 credit hours during Fall and Spring semester
- Must not be receiving a student tuition waiver
- Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, international student, or a DACA recipient
- Receive work-study through the Federal financial aid program
Minimum Qualifications Preferred Qualifications The Work-study will professionally represent ODMA and articulate its mission, goals, and resources.
Candidates should possess the ability to : a. Communicate effectively (in written and verbal) with a wide range of diverse individuals of varying abilities, cultures, ages, and ethnic backgrounds.
b. Demonstrate excellent customer service skills, cultural competencies, and sensibilities to work with diverse populations.
