Director, Safety & Quality Learning Network
The Director, Safety & Quality Learning Network (SQLN) develops and implements initiatives that support Boston Children's Hospital's SQLN, ensuring alignment with the mission, values, and strategic goals of the organization. This role provides leadership to individuals and interdisciplinary teams to advance patient and family outcomes through a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement. The Director collaborates closely with senior leadership, management, and physician partners to achieve programmatic goals. Success in this role requires strategic and creative thinking, balancing visionary leadership with attention to operational detail.
Key responsibilities include :
- Managing the SQLN home base platform as a central hub for resources in safety, quality, process improvement, human factors, and simulation.
- Developing and implementing programs that advance the Safety and Quality Learning Network and support a culture of excellence.
- Supporting strategies that drive cultural transformation to achieve the program's vision, including program launch and communication, performance monitoring and evaluation, risk management, and internal and external reporting.
- Designing and delivering flexible learning experiences, from short courses to extended, multi-month programs.
- Managing networking events that foster collaboration across roles and disciplines.
- Overseeing symposiums and conferences focused on innovation in safety and quality.
- Leading the scholar cohort program, pairing participants with expert mentors and peer networks for project-based learning.
- Supporting the development of a formal leadership training program to cultivate future leaders in safety and quality.
- Overseeing budgets, administrative processes, and information systems to ensure effective program operations.
- Leading individuals and teams to apply quality principles and continuously improve performance outcomes.
- Collaborating with senior leadership, management, and physician colleagues to align efforts and achieve programmatic goals.
- Fostering an environment that promotes excellence, equity, collaboration, and professional growth.
- Developing and implementing equitable processes for staff selection, evaluation, promotion, and, when necessary, termination in alignment with system standards.
Required qualifications :
