Job description

Senior Director, Leo T. McCarthy Center

About USF and The McCarthy Center As an urban university, based in a globally connected city and committed to shaping a more humane, equitable and just world, USF has a unique opportunity and responsibility to serve the people of San Francisco and the world. Established in 2002, the Leo T. McCarthy Center for Public Service and the Common Good educates leaders committed to lives of ethical public service by implementing academically rigorous programs, cultivating authentic community partnerships, and fostering transformational experiences. The faculty and community partners we work with are committed to intellectual rigor, exploring issues of equity and justice, ethical public service, preparing students for lives serving the common good, and doing so in a way that acknowledges the humanity of all. The undergraduate and graduate students engaged with the McCarthy Center are ready to grapple with difficult issues touching on politics and identity and to do so in a way that invites rather than excludes dialogue. These commitments and capacities are crucial given the challenges to education, equity, and justice we see around us.

The Senior Director has primary responsibility for administering the McCarthy Center and its programs. The Senior Director is responsible for advancing strategy and overseeing all areas of work within the scope of the Center. The Center is structurally located within the Office of the Provost and provides programming and support for numerous university-wide programs.
