SCHOOL DESCRIPTION
West Philadelphia Achievement Charter Elementary School is an inner city Arts and Technology K-5 Elementary School. We are a family oriented environment with family and community involvement being an integral part of our mission to enrich the lives of our students.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assess students' abilities and develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, families, and service providers
- Provide differentiated instruction in individual, small group, or co-teaching settings
- Adapt curriculum and teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities
- Collect and analyze data to track student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
- Implement behavior management strategies and behavior intervention plans (BIPs)
- Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure access to the general curriculum
- Communicate regularly with families about student progress, goals, and supports
- Maintain compliance with state and federal special education laws (IDEA, Section 504)
- Participate in IEP meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and professional development
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Valid PA Special Education certification3 + years teaching and case management experienceMust have experience writing and monitoring I.E.P.s. and be familiar with IDEA regulationsMust be able to obtain or currently have all background clearances (Federal, PA Criminal, & Child Abuse).In the event that the need arises, you will need to be able to : lift, pull or push up to 15 lbs, walk a standard flight of stairs, or stand or sit for up to 45 minutes.
