2024/2025 Special education teacher position
Minimum 1+ years special education experience required.
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our team near Catonsville,
Maryland. This full-time position will be responsible for teaching in an elementary life skills classroom, working with students who have significant behavioral needs.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to enhancing the educational and personal development of students with special needs.
Key Responsibilities :
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's needs.
- Design and deliver engaging, differentiated instruction in a life skills curriculum.
- Utilize positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS) to manage and improve student behavior.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes the social, emotional, and academic growth of all students.
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals, therapists, and other staff to provide comprehensive support to students.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and development.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of student performance, attendance, and behavior.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training to stay current with best practices in special education.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Valid Maryland Special Education Certification.
- Experience working with elementary-aged students with behavioral needs preferred.
- Strong understanding of behavior management techniques and strategies.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
