The Shipping / Receiving Clerk performs clerical and physical tasks in connection with shipping goods of the installation in which employed and receiving incoming shipments. This position may direct and coordinate the activities of other workers or agents engaged in handling goods to be shipped or being received. Shipping / Receiving Clerks work under direct supervision of a Lead / Supervisor.

Major Job Activities :

• Process Tls, LTLs, air clearances and small package shipments utilizing CMOS, ETA and TGET.
• Verifies TAC codes by comparing the FVUA document as required
• Contacts Commercial carriers either by telephone (most used) or email to begin their selection process for low cost service providers (TSPs)
• Verify DD form 1149 / 1348s are accurately completed prior to ordering and arrival of commercial trucks.
• Verifies that orders are accurately filled by comparing items and quantities of goods gathered for shipment against documents.
• Ensures that shipments are properly packaged, identified with shipping information, and loaded into transporting vehicles.
• Prepares and keeps records of goods shipped, e.g., manifests, bills of lading.
• Verifies the correctness of incoming shipments by comparing items and quantities unloaded against bills of lading, invoices, manifests, storage receipts, or other records.
• Checks for damaged goods; ensuring that goods are appropriately identified for routing to departments within the installation.
• Other duties may be assigned to meet organizational / operational objectives.
• Job duties and responsibilities may change due to contractual requirements.
