POSITION SUMMARY
As a Lab Assistant, you will be part of a team that strives to uphold Unio Health Partners' mission to provide the highest level of care.
You will be responsible for providing day-to-day administrative and clinical support to the laboratory. This position goes above and beyond to keep the lab running efficiently and effectively.
What you will be doing
- Daily specimen handling and accessioning; insurance coverage / verification. Also, help prepare cases to be reviewed by Pathologists.
- Prints slides and cassettes, reviews fax, and review / handle lab request for case material send outs. Update rejection (QNS) Specimen log for specific test request.
- Answering phone calls, calling surgery centers and / or physician practices for additional information as needed.
- Assists in maintaining cleanliness, orderliness of lab spaces, equipment and safety in the lab used on a daily basis according to lab policies and procedures required by OSHA, CAP, CLIA, CDPH.
- Assists in maintaining lab / office supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level as needed with the Lab Supervisor / Manager.
- Assists with billing for services; monitoring billed units; providing the billing office with support as needed.
- Maintains lab procedure policies and confidentiality of all lab testing performed.
