Position Summary
The Site Manager is responsible for leading all plant operations at the East Chicago, Indiana facility, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality production of custom powder materials. This position plays a key role in driving operational excellence, employee engagement, and continuous improvement across all manufacturing processes.
The Site Manager will oversee daily plant performance, manage personnel, optimize production schedules, and ensure compliance with company standards, customer requirements, and regulatory mandates. This role requires strong leadership, strategic problem-solving, and a hands-on approach to managing a dynamic, fast-paced industrial environment.
Requirements : Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Lead all aspects of day-to-day operations including production, quality, maintenance, logistics, and safety.
- Ensure plant performance aligns with company objectives for efficiency, output, and quality.
- Implement and sustain Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives to optimize productivity and reduce waste.
- Oversee material flow, powder processing, blending, and packaging to maintain on-time customer delivery and product integrity.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Technical teams to refine particle sizing, improve formulations, and address technical challenges in powder processing.
People & Culture
Lead and develop plant staff with an emphasis on accountability, training, and professional growth.Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, and open communication consistent with Specialty Powders’ values of “people first, integrity always.”Partner closely with HR to drive engagement, resolve employee relations issues, and ensure staffing levels align with production needs.Promote collaboration and cross-functional alignment between production, maintenance, quality assurance, and logistics teams.Quality & Compliance
Maintain ISO 9001 standards and ensure quality assurance procedures are followed at every stage of the process.Partner with the Quality team to analyze non-conformance issues, implement corrective actions, and ensure continuous product improvement.Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal environmental, health, and safety regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.).Champion process consistency and adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).Strategic & Financial Management
Manage site budget, cost controls, and capital expenditure projects.Prepare and analyze plant performance metrics, recommending improvements to meet production and cost targets.Identify opportunities for innovation, automation, and operational upgrades to enhance efficiency and sustainability.Collaborate with senior leadership on strategic initiatives related to capacity planning, technology implementation, and customer support.Customer & Partnership Focus
Act as a local ambassador for Specialty Powders’ mission of “Purpose-Driven Partnership.”Support customer audits, technical visits, and continuous improvement discussions.Ensure timely communication and coordination to meet customer delivery, quality, and service expectations.Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Industrial Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).7+ years of progressive leadership experience in manufacturing, preferably within powder processing, plastics, rotomolding, or chemical industries.Proven experience managing production teams in a high-volume, quality-driven environment.Strong understanding of ISO 9001 standards, EHS compliance, and continuous improvement methodologies.Demonstrated success in team development, performance management, and fostering a positive work culture.Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., Paylocity, ADP, or similar) and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).Excellent communication, analytical, and leadership skills.Core Competencies
