Description :
To perform routine and specialized examinations in the specialty area of CT and diagnostic radiology.
Adapt procedures to obtain specific diagnostic and / or therapeutic results.
Prepare patients for examinations.
This requires independent judgment to adapt procedures under the direction of a radiologist.
Clinical Excellence :
Perform procedures to ensure an accurate and complete examination within the guidelines and standards of Medical Imaging for assigned patients.
Exhibit competency in performing and filming CT and radiographic procedures.
Deviate from routines as needed based on the patient's condition or at the request of the radiologist.
Demonstrate knowledge of procedures and assist radiologist.
Order labs and pathology tests and schedule procedures appropriately.
Possess knowledge of invasive procedures, sterile tray setup, and assistance to the radiologist.
Obtain and document accurate pre and post-procedure information as applicable.
Follow patient safety goals.
Maintain quality care throughout the procedure.
Possess knowledge and skills to obtain adequate lab specimens for testing.
Perform patient bedside lab testing and associated quality control in compliance with medical provider's orders and hospital lab procedures.
Quality Improvement :
Maintain working knowledge of equipment to function in all aspects of CT and Diagnostic Radiology.
Perform support functions of the Medical Imaging department to ensure patient expectations and needs are met.
Be technically knowledgeable of CT and diagnostic equipment operation.
Perform reasonable troubleshooting.
Check and observe equipment for general safety, maintenance, and appropriate operation.
Report equipment problems through appropriate channels.
Maintain a clean work area, check and stock all supplies, and verify pertinent accessories assigned to that room.
Promptly process images and paperwork according to proper procedures.
Ensure timely turnaround in providing a report to the physician's office.
Maintain and coordinate patient flow to ensure efficient and expedient patient care.
Transport patients as required.
Complete all fields in the Radiology system accurately and promptly.
Maintain a safe environment for patients and personnel.
Support the maintenance of quality assurance, quality control, and quality improvement programs.
Departmental Support :
Assume personal responsibility for training fellow technologists and students.
Use time, supplies, and resources productively to promote responsive and cost-effective care.
Share knowledge and encourage fellow technologists and students with proper department protocol and procedures.
Display a professional attitude toward fellow technologists and students.
Complete care while conserving resources and preventing waste of supplies.
Use slow time to improve area appearance and accept additional assignments.
