Assistant Professor of Beef Cattle Nutrition

POSITION : The , College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Texas A&M University invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor with an emphasis in ruminant nutrition.
This is a 9-month, tenure-track position with research (50%), teaching (40%), and service (10%) responsibilities with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2024.
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Develop and lead an independent, extramurally funded, nationally / internationally recognized research program in the field of beef cattle nutrition and management that will contribute to advances in grazing, receiving, and backgrounding cattle management, nutrient utilization, animal health and well-being, and beef cattle system sustainability.
The successful candidate will enhance a multidisciplinary faculty, and this position in beef cattle nutrition will complement and extend current research initiatives and strengthen an already strong faculty in the department.
This position will contribute significantly to serving both undergraduate and graduate students across the department's curricula.
The successful candidate will develop a teaching program that includes a graduate / undergraduate course in the management of stocker and feedlot cattle and additional contributions to undergraduate education.
This position will also fill a critical role in the beef cattle research portfolio of the Department of Animal Science.

Specifically, the successful candidate will have access to the 800 acres of grazing and pens located at Beef Cattle Systems near College Station and the approximately 6,400 acres of grazing at the McGregor Research Center.
The successful candidate would have opportunities to collaborate with a broad range of Texas A&M University System researchers.
REQUIREMENTS : A Ph.D. in Animal Science or related field with emphasis on Beef Cattle / Ruminant Nutrition and the ability to teach stocker and feedlot management are required.
Evidence of outstanding research potential is required for consideration for appointment at the Assistant Professor rank.
The potential to maintain a strong graduate program is required.
