Great opportunity for safety leaders in the HVAC and construction industry! At NexCore, we're looking for an experienced EHS Director to support our operating companies and their safety programs. NexCore is a private equity backed building services group with over 15 locations in the US.

Position Overview

The EHS Director is responsible for establishing, implementing, and maintaining effective environmental, health, and safety programs across the organization. This leadership role ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations, promotes a safety-first culture, and drives continuous improvement initiatives to safeguard employees, the community, and the environment.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Develop and execute comprehensive EHS strategies aligned with organizational goals.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state and federal environmental and safety regulations.
  • Provide support and leadership for incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action processes.
  • Provide support and leadership to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and requirements.
  • Assists with OSHA investigations and audits.
  • Promote a strong safety culture through training, communication, and engagement initiatives.
  • Conduct regular EHS audits and inspections to identify hazards and ensure proper risk mitigation.
  • Monitor EHS performance metrics and prepare reports for executive leadership.
  • Oversee EHS compliance documentation, recordkeeping, and reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with operational teams to integrate safety and environmental considerations into daily operations.
  • Lead emergency response planning, drills, and preparedness efforts.
  • Stay current on emerging EHS best practices, industry standards, and regulatory changes.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • The EHS Director will collaborate with other team members but will not directly supervise others.

  • Education and Experience :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience leading safety initiatives, incident investigations, development and implementation of safety programs..
  • Extensive experience in EHS management, preferably in [industry, e.g., manufacturing, construction, energy].
  • Strong knowledge of relevant EHS laws, regulations, and standards (OSHA, EPA, ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to influence safety culture.
  • Excellent communication, training, and interpersonal skills.
  • Certification such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist) is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 products (Outlook, SharePoint, PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
  • Physical Requirements :

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
