Job description

VP, Merchandising

The Vice President of Merchandising will lead the development and execution of iHerb's merchandising and purchasing strategy to drive revenue growth, optimize product assortments, and strengthen supplier partnerships. Reporting directly to the SVP of Merchandising, this executive role holds P&L responsibility and plays a pivotal part in shaping the company's strategic direction.

This leader will manage a high-performing merchandising team and collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, operations, inventory management, legal, finance, and other key stakeholders to deliver on business goals. Success in this role requires a balance of visionary thinking and operational excellence, with a strong focus on data-driven decision-making, supplier negotiations, and category performance management.

Job Expectations :

  • Define and implement merchandising strategies that enhance assortment optimization, drive category growth, and maximize margin performance across all product lines
  • Establish and monitor measurable KPIs related to pricing, promotions, product lifecycle management, and margin performancefostering a culture of continuous improvement
  • Develop and lead data-driven vendor negotiation strategies, focusing on high-volume, strategic brands to achieve cost efficiencies, long-term value, and strong supplier partnerships
  • Collaborate with Marketing to align on brand-building initiatives, supplier co-op programs, and market-specific promotional campaigns
  • Oversee the creation and execution of innovative, customer-centric product and brand strategies that align with growth and profitability targets
  • Provide strategic insights through advanced analytics, including product and vendor performance, promotional ROI, and category trend analysis, to inform and optimize merchandising decisions
  • Guide cross-functional efforts in partnership with BI, Supply Chain, Planning, and Operations to improve inventory flow, reduce costs, and enhance supply chain resilience
  • Develop frameworks for vendor communications that reinforce transparency, accountability, and partnership excellence
  • Serve as a key voice in executive planning, contributing to company-wide growth strategies, annual budgeting, talent planning, and margin improvement initiatives
  • Facilitate regular performance reviews and business updates with senior leadership to assess progress against revenue and profitability goals.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

Required :

  • Revenue-focused experience in ecommerce industry
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate against tight deadlines with valued partners
  • Experience leading KPIs and metrics
  • High-energy and highly persuasive presentation skills delivering to small and large audiences
  • International market experience (MENA, APAC, EU)
  • Executive-level communication and negotiation skills
  • Strong Operational, Merchant and Vendor management experience
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to identify and implement process improvements, system overhauls, and solutions to improve efficiency and effectiveness
  • Collaborative approach to managing relationships and the ability to work effectively with cross functional teams to meet goals and drive growth, impact, and organizational performance
  • Fluency in common ecommerce, CRM and web analytics tools
  • Ability to thrive in a high-growth, entrepreneurial, and fast-paced environment (1800+ brands)
  • Ability to move quickly and efficiently from one objective to another
  • Data analysis and pricing strategy background
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, with awareness of deadlines, in a fast-paced business environment
  • Ability to analyze existing processes and implement changes to drive efficiencies
  • Strong negotiation skills, influencing abilities and relationship management
  • Equipment Knowledge :

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with Google Business Suite (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Forms) preferred
  • Experience Requirements :

  • Generally requires a minimum of 10+ years experience of strategic Merchandising with Buying, Planning experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in e-commerce, preferably within a strategic setting in a high-growth, fluid organization.
  • Education Requirements :

    Bachelor's Degree in Business or Supply Chain related field preferred, or a combination of education and equivalent work experience.

    Anticipated Pay Scale : $220,667 - $386,168 USD
