Unit Highlights
MedStar Georgetown's Perinatal Department consists of a Labor &Delivery / Inpatient Antepartum Suite along with a Mother-Baby Couplet PostpartumUnit. Perinatal nurses assess the mother and neonate in a family-centered,holistic environment that supports the new family during this time of changingneeds. MedStar Georgetown is a designated Baby Friendly Hospital® and regionalreferral center for high-risk mothers and infants, and enjoys a supportive andcooperative relationship with our outstanding Level IV NICU to provideexcellent continuity of care for these families. Perinatal nurses collaboratewith parenting services, antepartum / postpartum patient educators and lactationspecialists to provide comprehensive patient and family education. Our diversepatient population includes both medically complex and uncomplicated patients.Perinatal nurses enjoy participating in collaborative governance at the unitand hospital level and are encouraged to attend a wide variety of educationalopportunities, including AWHONN regional and national conferences.

Schedule
Full-Time (36 hours per week)
Rotating Shifts (50% night shift requirement) or Straight Night Shifts (after completion of clinical orientation)
50% Weekend Requirement
Key Responsibilities
As a Clinical Nurse you will deliver proficient nursing care to patients and families whose needs range from uncomplicated to highly complex. You will identify current and potential complex problems of specific patient populations and critically analyzes trends and changes in patient status and plans appropriate interventions directly or indirectly through other nurses.
