Description :

This facility is a 900+ licensed bed hospital with a Level 1 Trauma Designation.

It includes a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and is a teaching hospital.

The facility is recognized as a Chest Pain Center, Stroke Center, and holds Magnet Designation.

The unit has 14 beds with an average daily census of 11 patients.

The patient population primarily consists of those undergoing cardiac surgery and advanced cardiac support.

Common diagnoses include ECMO, OHT, LVAD / RVAD, and Impella (both right and left).

Patient ratios are RN : 1 : 2 and CNA : 1 : 14.

CNA support is available on the unit, along with a charge nurse who is typically free floating.

Phlebotomy is available as needed, and there is a 24 / 7 IV / VAT Team.

Respiratory therapy and hospitalist services are also available 24 / 7, as well as intensivist support.

The technology in use includes EMR (Epic), IV pumps, medication dispensing systems, and advanced monitors.

Unit-specific equipment includes ECMO, IABP, RVAD, LVAD, Impella devices, and ventilators.

Floating may be required to adult critical care units as needed.

Travelers will be expected to work 75% of holidays.

Shift times are from 1845 to 0715, and the scheduling cycle runs every 6 weeks.
