Overview

VINCI Construction Grands Projets USA (formally VINCI Construction LLC) is a subsidiary of VINCI Construction Grands Projets with its main office in Alexandria, Virginia. The company focuses on general contracting and construction work for large, selected Design and Build projects, public or private, delivering engineering and construction services for large infrastructure projects in the United States.

Project Overview

The Walsh-VINCI Transit Community Partners Joint Venture, consisting of VINCI Construction Grands Projets and Walsh Construction, was selected to construct the 2.9 billion design- build Red Line Extension project for the Chicago Transit Authority. The MDB project will extend the CTA Red Line by 5.6 miles from 95th / Dan Ryan to 130th Street and Doty Avenue. Learn more about the RLE project at the WVTCP-RLE website.

The Position

The Civil Design Engineer (Civil Works Design Coordinator) role is to ensure design excellence and safety in design.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop and organize the design efforts focused on civil works. Provide administrative and technical support and direction of Design.
  • Act as a technical reference for the construction team, coordinating with all parties.
  • Serve as the referent in the technical aspects of civil works design, procurement and future construction.
  • As Civil Works Design Coordinator, manage the civil works Designer (earthworks, drainage, management of traffic, roads, pavement, utilities deviation) and interface with other disciplines including systems, track, structure and stations.
  • Be a key actor in the design approval process, including design review, constructability review, means and methods interface, client review, third-party reviews and permitting.
  • Review and approve drawings developed by subcontractors and other designers during different project phases.
  • Manage requests for information from designers and review subcontractor requests.
  • Promote and implement Safety in Design and Environment in Design.

Key Skills and Knowledge

Required :

  • Bachelors degree in engineering from an accredited institution
  • 5-10 years of engineering design experience within design-build projects
  • Minimum 5 years in design and / or design management of civil works and associated technical trades
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to assume responsibility, interface and communicate effectively with others
  • Broad knowledge of personnel safety, process safety and environmental principles and regulations
  • Project management and administrative skills to plan, organize, coordinate and control the development and execution of multiple projects including cost and schedule control
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent technical and problem-solving skills with minimal guidance
  • Experience working on Joint Venture construction projects
  • Fluent in English with professional proficiency
  • Valid Driver's License

    • Preferred :

  • Professional Engineer PE registration
  • Experience in AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of structured project management or project development and execution processes

    • Salary Range

  • 115,000 to 130,000
  • Dynamic and challenging work environment
  • On-site PPE requirements including hard hats, safety glasses and reflective vests

    • Physical Demands

  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs
  • Walking and standing in office or on-site
  • Occasional climbing, bending to inspect equipment
