Project Overview
The Walsh-VINCI Transit Community Partners Joint Venture, consisting of VINCI Construction Grands Projets and Walsh Construction, was selected to construct the 2.9 billion design- build Red Line Extension project for the Chicago Transit Authority. The Position
The Civil Design Engineer (Civil Works Design Coordinator) role is to ensure design excellence and safety in design.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan, develop and organize the design efforts focused on civil works. Provide administrative and technical support and direction of Design.
- Act as a technical reference for the construction team, coordinating with all parties.
- Serve as the referent in the technical aspects of civil works design, procurement and future construction.
- As Civil Works Design Coordinator, manage the civil works Designer (earthworks, drainage, management of traffic, roads, pavement, utilities deviation) and interface with other disciplines including systems, track, structure and stations.
- Be a key actor in the design approval process, including design review, constructability review, means and methods interface, client review, third-party reviews and permitting.
- Review and approve drawings developed by subcontractors and other designers during different project phases.
- Manage requests for information from designers and review subcontractor requests.
- Promote and implement Safety in Design and Environment in Design.
Key Skills and Knowledge
Required :
Bachelors degree in engineering from an accredited institution5-10 years of engineering design experience within design-build projectsMinimum 5 years in design and / or design management of civil works and associated technical tradesProficient in Microsoft Office SuiteAbility to assume responsibility, interface and communicate effectively with othersBroad knowledge of personnel safety, process safety and environmental principles and regulationsProject management and administrative skills to plan, organize, coordinate and control the development and execution of multiple projects including cost and schedule controlAbility to manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environmentExcellent technical and problem-solving skills with minimal guidanceExperience working on Joint Venture construction projectsFluent in English with professional proficiencyValid Driver's LicensePreferred :
