What to Expect
As a Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer on Tesla's Vehicle Engineering Team, you will play a pivotal role in designing, engineering, releasing, and launching complete interior systems for future Tesla vehicle product lines. Collaborating with a lean and agile team of top-tier product engineers, you will push boundaries and innovate to create world-class interiors that excel in styling, functionality, and performance. Your expertise in interior commodities will be leveraged to develop full vehicle systems, focusing on delivering integrated solutions rather than individual components, while working closely with design, styling, and cross-functional teams to achieve exceptional results.
What You'll Do
- Engineer, develop, and execute world-class interior systems that exceed styling and functional targets while meeting regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with Tesla's design, styling, and engineering teams to provide critical input early in the development process
- Participate in iterative processes with stakeholders to balance form, function, performance, and cost effectively
- Implement processes and material selections to achieve superior automotive interior craftsmanship and fit and finish
- Complete and release interior components, sub-systems, and detailed designs, utilizing in-house design and supplier engineering as needed
- Utilize DFSS methodologies during design, validation, and launch phases of the program
- Work with cross-functional teams in vehicle engineering, manufacturing, and procurement to ensure system feasibility and serviceability
What You'll Bring
