Product Manager Trainee
SWIM USA is the premiere designer and manufacturer of women's swimwear located in Sante Fe Springs, CA. We are 84 years young and seeking an eager, smart and hard working Product Manager Trainee to join our team.
The Product Manager trainee supports the Product Manager in the management of the pre-production and production stages of product (garment) lifecycle, manage initial prototype to finished goods delivery.
This position is a an early entry into Production Management in the apparel industry, that can lead to future opportunities for advancement.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities :
Development
- Interface with Design and Pattern Making to ensure key milestones are met per the time and action calendar.
- Research and prepare development worksheets for new trims and fabrics distribute to the team.
- Partner with the sales team, design, & sample room to ensure that required sample lines are delivered on time.
- Place sample orders / develop and maintain a tracking system for all sample lines & individual samples.
- Mange consistent flow of tech packs (spec sheets) in the Blue Cherry System based upon F / G delivery
- Analyze key metrics with respect to historical performance and category development
- Actively participate in weekly division meetings with cross functional teams
- Manage new style and carryover coding (style setup) and confirm UPC's / MSRP's (BC)
- Create line sheets specific to import products and update & distribute regularly
- Daily communication with cross functional teams and vendors to ensure on time delivery of finished product
Production
- Forecast and order raw materials per seasonal plans monitor delivery, testing, and quality
- Liaise with Design and Pattern Making to confirm approvals of production fabrics and trims
- Issue production lots in the Blue Cherry System and manage open WIP reports
- Manage factory WIP reports and communicate any changes to Product Manager
- Schedule regular meetings with Customer Service to review delivery and allocation issues
- Participate in weekly Production Planning meetings and report on assigned categories of business to the group
- Manage PP and TOP samples for branded line, custom programs, & specific customers as required
- Track shipments to ensure timely delivery of inventory
Support Duties
- Create and maintain seasonal files as needed
- Administer weekly reports review with Product Manager and take action as required
- Order and distribute specialty packaging materials as required by customers
- Manage outgoing and incoming packages (Fed Ex / UPS, commercial invoices, etc.)
Qualifications / Requirements :
Education : Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
Experience : Entry level
Skills :
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Microsoft Office (Excel & Word, PowerPoint a plus)
- Ability to work as a team player
- Must have keen sense of urgency
- Ability to work under pressure in an environment of constant shifting priorities and changes
