Role Summary / Purpose
The AVP – Advanced Insights & Analytics will utilize advanced analytical algorithms to analyze large datasets, comprising both structured and unstructured data, to derive actionable insights. The role supports Global Operations, including Servicing, Collections & Recovery, Fraud, and other areas as required. The incumbent partners with operational leaders, IT, and other analytical teams to identify opportunities, develop solutions on-premises or in AWS, and design and implement data pipelines.
Responsibilities
- Develop and test hypotheses.
- Leverage advanced descriptive and predictive analytics to gain actionable insights.
- Build machine learning and deep learning solutions for complex problems involving unstructured and semi-structured data.
- Prototype solutions on AWS.
- Estimate economic impact.
- Leverage storytelling to create compelling recommendations.
- Compare and contrast predicted and actual performance.
Analytics Projects (Examples)
Identify and analyze drivers of Servicing performance.Build unique solutions that improve agent experience or business outcomes.Apply time‑series techniques to understand historical performance and predict future outcomes.Develop and test what‑if scenarios.What You’ll Do
Champion customers by developing in‑depth data solutions that provide key business insights.Collaborate with process owners on analytical projects, incorporating new data elements to promote efficient strategies and customer contact preferences.Execute projects under aggressive deadlines with limited management guidance.Prepare and deliver presentations summarizing findings and recommendations, communicating in both technical and layperson terms.Support loss / cost and sizing estimations to prioritize and demonstrate business benefit.Provide thought leadership and strategic analytic support to the group.Conduct ad-hoc analyses and reporting as needed.Develop process controls and produce documentation.Perform other duties and / or special projects as assigned.Experiences You’ll Need To Succeed
Bachelor’s degree in advanced analytics, machine learning, mathematics, or computer science; or high school diploma with 10+ years of relevant experience.8+ years of analytics experience, including data extraction, summarization, pattern identification, visualization, and storytelling.5+ years with analytical tools (Python, R, MATLAB, PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras, SageMaker, etc.).Experience with cloud computing, preferably AWS.Experience in the Financial Services industry.Experience querying and analyzing large data lakes, data warehouses, SQL Server, or Oracle databases.Skills You Have That Will Delight Us
Master’s degree in advanced analytics, machine learning, mathematics, or computer science (strongly preferred).7+ years of demonstrated success in developing and delivering analytics solutions.Capability to deliver compelling data‑driven solutions proactively.Ability to propose alternative data options and recommend efficient solutions.Experience in retail finance or financial services; domain knowledge of SYF Collections processes is a plus.Experience working with large volumes of data.Proven analytical and decision‑making skills.Compensation
Salary range : $115,000.00 – $200,000.00 USD annually. Eligibility for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance. Salaries are adjusted for market in California, NY Metro, and Seattle.
Eligibility Requirements
Must be 18 years or older.Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.Must be willing to take a drug test, undergo a background investigation, and submit fingerprints during onboarding.Must satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.Internal hiring conditions for new hires and levels are as described in company policy.Legal Authorization & Visa Policy
