Water Utility Crew Leader
The City of Pomona invites qualified candidates to apply for the Water Utility Crew Leader position in the Water Resources Department's Production Section. This position plays a key role in overseeing the operation, maintenance, and repair of the City's water production facilities, including wells, pumps, reservoirs, and related systems that ensure the continuous delivery of safe drinking water. Under direction, the Crew Leader guides and participates in complex field and facility work, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory standards.
The City currently has one vacancy in the Production section of the Water Resources Department. This recruitment will also establish an eligible list for future vacancies in the Production and / or Distribution sections.
The ideal candidate is an experienced water professional with a strong technical background in the operation and maintenance of water production systems. They are a hands-on leader who can effectively supervise crews in the field, troubleshoot equipment issues, and coordinate work related to pumps, motors, reservoirs, and treatment facilities. With a deep understanding of safety procedures, regulatory compliance, and preventive maintenance, they lead by example and ensure quality work and accountability across all assignments. Qualifying employees in this position who hold a certificate which surpasses the minimum certificate requirements of the job classification will receive additional pay after education verification. The City of Pomona maintains a competitive compensation structure with a 5% scheduled salary increase on October 1, 2026.
