The Director, Marketing Strategy & Planning Global Demand Generation Opportunity

Reporting to the Senior Director, Marketing Strategy, Planning & Operations, this leadership role will establish and champion Okta’s Global Demand Generation strategy and the planning framework. You will lead and develop a global team of strategy and planning professionals and partner with senior Marketing and Go-to-Market leadership to set strategic priorities, growth plans, and an effective operational plan. You will ensure alignment with company objectives, drive data-informed decision-making, and act as a trusted interface between Demand Generation Marketing and the broader GTM ecosystem (Sales Leadership, GTM Strategy & Planning, Finance).

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead and own the global annual and quarterly Marketing planning process for Demand Generation Marketing, driving collaboration with the Global Demand Generation leadership team and key stakeholders in Sales, GTM Strategy & Planning, and Finance. Shape strategic direction and validate alignment with company objectives to ensure strong ROI for marketing initiatives.
  • Direct the strategic prioritization of marketing investments, align budget owners on critical trade-offs, and establish an investment framework to assess outcomes and guide resource allocation.
  • Oversee and elevate the global Quarterly Business Review (QBR) process for Demand Generation Marketing, synthesize performance insights with Marketing Analytics, and present findings and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Promote a data-driven culture by delivering analytical insights on marketing performance to Marketing, Sales, and GTM Strategy & Planning, identifying opportunities and guiding prioritization of initiatives to accelerate growth.
  • Act as a trusted strategic advisor to senior leaders on direction, operational improvements, and initiatives to enhance effectiveness across global marketing teams.
  • Lead and champion complex, cross-functional, global initiatives from inception through execution, navigating organizational dynamics and ensuring alignment on goals, timelines, and resources.
  • Build and develop a high-performing global team of marketing strategy and planning professionals, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with Marketing Analytics leadership to ensure robust reporting capabilities that meet evolving strategic needs.

What You’ll Bring To The Role

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in Marketing Strategy & Planning, Strategic Analytics, or a similar leadership role in a high-growth B2B SaaS company, with experience leading planning cycles and influencing senior leadership.
  • 8+ years of experience managing global marketing budgets and resource allocation, with strong financial planning and ROI analysis.
  • Deep understanding of SaaS fundamentals, including pipeline and revenue analytics, investment ratios, full-funnel metrics, and marketing technology foundations.
  • Proven ability to develop and drive holistic global marketing strategies that deliver significant business growth in a complex global environment.
  • Strong strategic and structured thinking with the ability to break down complex problems and develop data-backed solutions.
  • Experience collaborating with and influencing senior leaders and cross-functional teams across geographically distributed organizations.
  • Excellent executive-level written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience building and leading high-performing teams with a collaborative, results-oriented culture.
  • BS / BA required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • The annual base salary range for candidates in the San Francisco Bay Area is between $206,000 and $309,000 USD. Depending on location, skills and experience, base salary varies with equity (where applicable), bonus, and benefits (health, dental, vision, 401(k), FSA, and paid leave) per plan policies.     The annual base salary range for candidates in California (excluding the San Francisco Bay Area), Colorado, New York, and Washington is between $184,000 and $276,000 USD.
