PCU RN Travel Job Details Assignment Type : Travel Registered Nurse (RN) Location : Roanoke, VA 24014 (Virginia healthcare jobs) Unit : Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Stepdown Duration : Up to 52 weeks (flexible options : 14-26 weeks available) Shift : 12-hour day shifts (6 : 45 AM – 7 : 15 PM), 3 shifts per week Hours per Week : 36 Start Date : Flexible (earliest 12 / 15 / 2025) Orientation : 32 hours Weekend Coverage : Required (6 weekend shifts per 6-week block) Registered Nurse Qualifications Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Virginia or compact state) Minimum 1 year of recent PCU or stepdown RN experience Certifications : ACLS, BLS, NIHSS (required for PCU nursing jobs) EPIC charting experience required Proficient in dysrhythmia interpretation and management COVID-19 and Flu vaccinations required (medical / religious exemptions considered) Willingness to float to other PCU or Med-Surg units as needed Not accepting local candidates (must reside more than 100 miles from facility) PCU RN Responsibilities Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a 20-bed telemetry Progressive Care Unit Manage patients with pulmonary, renal, and other complex medical conditions Care for up to 2 ventilated patients (non-ICU level) Administer and monitor IV drips (Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, Amiodarone, Nitro, etc.) Perform central and peripheral line care and management Utilize oxygen modalities including CPAP and BiPAP Respond to rapid response and code situations Follow isolation precautions and telemetry protocols Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (PT, RT, Pharmacy, Social Services, etc.) Float to other units within your scope of practice as needed Ready to take the next step in your travel nursing career?
