Security Officer
Principal Duties And Responsibilities :
- Assists with the development and implementation of the Airport's security policies, procedures and programs for all Air Operation Area (AOA) / Secure Identification Display Area (SIDA) gates, aviation worker screening program, terminal patrols and roving patrols.
- Recommends and implements procedures and systems for visitor control, employee identification and safeguard beyond the Airport's AOA / SIDA gates.
- Assists with the development and oversight of the business plan to ensure the most effective and cost-efficient method of maintaining a Department of Public Safety civilian security officer program.
- Supervises an internal staff of civilian security supervisors; manages the overall planning and scheduling of security officer personnel.
- Reviews reports and informs management of incidents; reviews, investigates and resolves internal and external issues / complaints in the field and over the telephone.
- Monitors and evaluates the workplace to ensure compliance with Board and Department policies, federal, state and local regulations and the DFW Airport Security Plan (ASP).
- Develops and conducts training programs for security personnel; responsible for ensuring security personnel enforce all access procedures and policies.
- Reviews facility conditions and analyzes surveillance / screening equipment needs for all AOA / SIDA gates and aviation worker access points; making recommendations through DPS chain of command regarding necessary security improvements.
- Assists the Senior Security Manager with directing the installation / maintenance of electronic security equipment and coordinates with appropriate departments to ensure effective operation.
- Takes an active role in budget related issues to include preparation, analytical justification of yearly requests, forecasting, industry benchmarking, and prudent stewardship of the adopted budget throughout the fiscal year.
- Develops detailed, professional-level reports and presentations as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements :
Completion of high school curriculum or equivalent.Three (3) years supervisory experience in law enforcement or security or two (2) year experience as a Security Supervisor with the DFW Airport Department of Public Safety.Any equivalent combination of education and / or experience may be substituted for the above.Possession of a valid Class C driver's license.Citizenship of the United State of America.Has not been convicted of a Class "B" misdemeanor within the last ten years or any offense greater than a Class "B".Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities :
Ability to work all shifts and days of the week including holidaysKnowledge of modern security principles, practices, techniques, methods and equipment.Knowledge of the functions of other governmental agencies as they relate to security and public safety services.Knowledge of the Airport Security Plan (ASP).Ability to plan, organize, staff, coordinate and direct the activities of a civilian security staff.Ability to establish priorities, standards and procedures for a civilian security staff.Ability to convey ideas clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, Board officials, other public officials and the public.Ability to implement sound business management procedures.Ability to analyze complex problems and formulate solutions or recommendations.Ability to gather, analyze and evaluate facts to prepare and present concise oral and written reports.Desirable :
Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Homeland Security or related field.Special Requirement :
Must obtain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Airport Identification / Access Badge (badge) in accordance with Department of Homeland Security Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requirements in Chapter 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 1500 et al., and DFW Airport's Airport Security Program within thirty (30) days from date of employment and maintain qualification for a SIDA badge upon each badge renewal.This is a designated safety sensitive position as defined in DFW Airport's Drug and Alcohol Administrative Policy and Procedure. Applicants selected for this position will be required to pass a drug test prior to employment and to submit to drug screening on a random basis during the length of their employment in the safety sensitive position.This is a designated Essential Employee position as defined in DFW Airport's Categories and Classifications Administrative Policy and Procedure. An essential employee is one whose attendance is required to maintain airport operations during an emergency or inclement weather situation.Must be able to meet all initial and recurrent training requirements in accordance with Title 14 CFR part 139 and administrative Policy AO.014.01, Ground Vehicle Driver Training for Air Operations Area (AOA) within 30 days of assignment to a driving position and before being permitted to operate the vehicle without the direct supervision and presence of a co-operator qualified under this requirement.Efforts :
Works in an office environment and in the field, regularly inspecting AOA / SIDA gates, aviation employee access points and other field operations.Uses reasoning in problem solving and analysis.Exchanges information by telephone, computer, in writing and in person.Drives to locations on and off Airport property.About Us :
