Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS) is looking for an Experienced (Level 3) , Senior (Level 4) , or Lead (Level 5) System Safety Engineer to join our Space, Intelligence & Weapons (SI&WS) team.  This position is to help ensure the safety of products & services from our manned and unmanned space portfolio.  The selected candidate will be able to work out of El Segundo, CA , Huntsville, AL , or Titusville, FL .

The selected candidate will be a core member of a fast-paced, productive, and close-knit engineering team. System Safety Engineers are integral to the entire product lifecycle to identify, analyze, mitigate and verify the safety hazard risk of our Boeing products. This includes collaboration with all facets of engineering from technology investment, concept development, requirements definition, and design, build, integration, test, and demonstration of products in their fielded environments.

Primary responsibilities :

• Evaluates customer specifications and regulations, and assess the design to develop safety requirements, constraints, and operating limits
• Develops System Safety Program Plans (SSPPs), as required
• Performs a variety of hazard analyses across the full product life cycle, such as the Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), System & Subsystem Hazard Analysis (SSHA), Operating and Support Hazard Analysis (O&SHA), Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA), Software Safety Hazard Analysis, and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA)
• Reviews engineering design specifications, test and manufacturing operations, change proposals, anomaly reports, and deviation / waiver requests for potential safety impacts
• Collaborates with government, customer, and program domain experts
• Prepares presentations, analyses, and reports for government / customer safety boards, program design reviews, and test / mission readiness reviews
• Develops proposals, work statements, and specifications affecting system safety engineering scope and budget
• Delivers oral and written system safety and risk presentations to peers, program management, senior leadership, customers, and regulatory agencies
