Information Systems Technician

As an Information Systems Technician (IT) in the U.S. Navy, youll be responsible for maintaining, managing, and securing the vital networks and information systems that keep Navy ships, submarines, and aircraft operating at peak performance. From managing satellite communications to protecting sensitive military data, the role ensures that communication lines remain open and secure at all times.

Key Responsibilities

• Network Management & Administration : Youll be in charge of configuring, managing, and troubleshooting various communication networks and systems aboard ships, submarines, and aircraft. This includes everything from LAN (Local Area Network) setups to satellite communication systems.
• Cybersecurity : Youll implement security measures to protect sensitive data from unauthorized access, ensuring secure communications within the Navys network. This includes managing firewalls, encryption systems, and intrusion detection systems.
• System Installation & Repair : Work with complex, high-tech systems and equipment, performing installations, repairs, and upgrades to ensure all communication technologies are fully operational.
• Problem-Solving : Diagnosing and fixing network failures and system errors quickly to minimize downtime. Your troubleshooting skills will help restore communication channels that are critical to military operations.
• Collaboration : Work alongside other IT professionals, engineers, and military personnel to troubleshoot, improve, and deploy new network systems.
• Training & Mentorship : As you grow in your role, youll have the opportunity to mentor junior technicians and pass on your knowledge of network management and IT security.
