Duties, Responsibilities & Other

We\'re seeking a highly experienced Senior Highway Project Engineer to lead the planning, design, and execution of major highway infrastructure projects in Virginia. With a decade of hands-on experience, you\'ll be responsible for managing multidisciplinary teams, ensuring regulatory compliance, and delivering projects that enhance transportation networks and community connectivity.

Key Responsibilities :

• Direct all phases of highway projects—from feasibility studies to final construction—ensuring alignment with budget, schedule, and VDOT quality standards.
• Review and approve detailed engineering designs using software like AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, or OpenRoads
• Ensure all designs and construction activities meet federal, state, and local regulations, including environmental and safety standards.
• Collaborate with government agencies, contractors, utility companies, and community groups to align project goals and secure approvals.
• Develop and monitor project budgets, timelines, and resource allocations using tools like MS Dynamics.
• Conduct site inspections, resolve field issues, and ensure construction adheres to design specifications and safety protocols.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders
• Qualified candidates should have previous experience with VDOT and / or Virginia Localities.
