Starting Salary Range : $77,615 (Class II, Step 6) to $107,156 (VII, Step 10) annually for an 11-month contract. Anticipated Start Date : Spring 2026.
Job Description
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
The UMOJA Counselor / Coordinator will coordinate and enhance the cultural and educational experiences of African American, Black, and other students within the Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District. The role includes providing counseling services related to transfer, vocational / occupational programs, and career and academic skills development from a student-centered and culturally sustaining lens. Responsibilities include oversight of program outreach and retention efforts, learning community development, building community among students and faculty peers, MIS data reporting, acting as campus liaison for the UMOJA Community, and supporting the campus in achieving success outcomes for African American and Black students. The Counselor / Coordinator will contribute to evolving the dedicated space for student support programs (Puente, Justice Scholars, UMOJA, etc.) and assist with development and assessment of student learning outcomes and program planning. Participation on campus committees and leadership in campus, community, and professional organizations are anticipated. Duties may include professional and student-centered overnight conferences and field trips. The position complies with open-access commitments and serves a diverse student population. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Master's in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy or marriage, family and child counseling, or the equivalent. (Note : a bachelor's degree in one of the listed degrees and a license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) is an alternative qualification.)
