Our Environmental Services (ES) group is looking for an experienced environmental professional to join our team as the Power Generation Sector Leader for the United States. We are on a growth trajectory for our business and have set high expectations. We are looking for a dynamic, collaborative leader to take the Generation Sector to the next level. Power Generation includes thermal generation (e.g., coal, natural gas, oil, nuclear), renewables (e.g., biogas, biomass, solar, geothermal, wind, battery storage), and hydropower. Our ideal candidate will have extensive Account Management experience with power generation clients, seeing annual double-digit growth in their accounts. The successful candidate will embody Stantec's philosophy that "we are better together" and will demonstrate a keen ability to develop client relationships, communicate clearly, and implement a framework for driving top line growth with a focus on key accounts. This individual will establish the strategic direction for ES's Power Generation Sector in collaboration with other members of the ES team.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Business Development
  • Lead and support the achievement of growth for the ES Power Generation Sector across the US.
  • Develop and maintain a broad range of client relationships throughout the industry, including clients with conventional, renewable and emerging generation assets and understand market drivers.
  • Manage and grow key client accounts within the ES Power Generation Sector with a focus on environmental services, while collaborating with other Business Operating Units.
  • Directly lead or influence strategic pursuits that are critical to our growth and reputation.
  • Drive revenue growth opportunities for the entire range of Stantec services and champion an integrated services approach.
  • Work with business leaders at all levels to meet net revenue and gross margin targets.
  • Partner with appropriate Sector Leaders and Regional growth team members; assist with the annual business planning process and monitoring of sector performance.
  • Develop in-house Sector expertise and best practices.
  • Direct marketing and business development activities within the Power Generation Sector in association with the North American ES Power Sector Lead.
  • Strategic Thinking
  • Help set the vision and lead the expansion of the ES Power Generation Sector across the US.
  • Identify trends and develop a long-term view of the industry, market, and client base.
  • Work to position the company in key portions of the market and accounts to provide for sustainable growth, being nimble and responsive to meet client needs.
  • Develop and implement "win" strategies, including client contact, proposal preparation, and preparation of and participation in client interviews.
  • Assist in the growth of ES Power Generation by establishing new service areas.
  • Anticipate medium- and long-term client needs and industry dynamics.
  • Innovate and enhance ES's Power Generation capabilities, geographic footprint, and integrated approach.
  • Make decisions using critical thinking, good business sense, and organizational values to make collaborative decisions involving varying levels of risk and ambiguity.
  • Team Leadership and Development
  • Collaborate with other Stantec business lines to build integrated service delivery for clients and projects.
  • Attract and retain specialized staff needed to secure and deliver sector-specific expertise and client relationship growth.
  • Provide effective leadership, marketing direction and guidance to a team dedicated to growing our ES Generation business and further develop Stantec's profile in the marketplace.
  • Work closely with account managers, business leaders, and technical service leadership to deliver safe, profitable, and sustainable projects and services for our clients.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

Demonstrated client account and top-line management experience at a scale of >

$10M net revenue per year. A high integrity professional with a commitment to delivering on promises. A clear thinker with a strategic mindset who possesses in-depth experience in the Power Generation Sector. Ability to create innovative and effective client solutions that are aligned with both sector and global business objectives. Proven experience in building rapport and trust with key clients, business leaders, and team members. Proven teambuilding and influencing skills. Known to be proactive in their ability to be a market leader. Known for sustaining long-term client relationships. Ability to travel 25% to 50% of time, as required. Must have a good driving record and valid driver's license.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

KPIs may include but are not limited to the following :

  • Achieve annual HSSE targets specific to a sector leader
  • Achieve budgeted net revenue and gross margin targets in the ES Power Generation Sector
  • Overall capture rate ($) greater than 80%
  • 100% compliance with competitive Go Assessments
  • 60% competitive capture rate ($) on strategic pursuits within the ES Power Generation Sector

  • Leading by example to meet utilization target and be engaged in execution / leadership of key projects
  • Education and Experience

    The successful candidate will have a proven track record as a key contributor to a global leadership team, including the following qualifications : An undergraduate degree in environmental science or engineering is required. We prefer that candidates also have a graduate degree in a technical, business, or marketing field, but a graduate degree is not required. 15 years of experience in the Power Generation sector, including expertise in consulting is preferred. Environmental regulatory experience within the Power Generation sector is preferred.

    Locations in MN, VT, & Various CA, NY Areas - Min Salary $ 161,400.00 - Max Salary $ 250,200.00 Locations in CO, HI, IL, MD & Various CA, NJ Areas - Min Salary $ 177,500.00 - Max Salary $ 275,200.00 Locations in WA, DC & Various CA areas - Min Salary $ 190,500.00 - Max Salary $ 295,200.00 Locations in NYC & CA (Bay Area) & NJ (RP) - Min Salary $ 203,400.00 - Max Salary $ 315,300.00

    Benefits Summary
