Sr. Mechanical Designer

Senior Mechanical Designer uses SolidWorks to create 3D models and technical drawings for mechanical components and systems, leads design projects, mentors junior engineers, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure products meet functional and manufacturing requirements from concept to production. Key responsibilities include performing design calculations, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and supporting prototype development and testing, while requiring strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and refine detailed 3D models, assemblies, and technical drawings using SolidWorks software.

Lead design projects from concept to completion, managing them through the full development lifecycle.

Work with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, manufacturing specialists, and project managers, to integrate components and ensure product feasibility.

Technical Analysis : Conduct design calculations and analyses, including stress, thermal, and fluid dynamics (FEA), to validate designs.

Ensure designs are manufacturable (Design for Manufacturability), working with fabrication teams to resolve production issues.

Support the creation and testing of prototypes using workshop tools and rapid prototyping equipment.

Create and maintain technical documentation, including fabrication drawings and design records, for internal use and customers.

Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and contribute to team development.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Minimum of 12+ years of experience in professional mechanical design, preferably designing iron roughnecks, top drives, catwalks, casing machines, etc.

Expert-level proficiency in

SolidWorks

and other CAD software.

Mechanical Engineering Principles : A strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.

Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and design calculation skills.

Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration and technical documentation.
