As a Tax Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and reviewing financial information for clients, such as business and individual tax returns, with the benefit of gaining exposure to a diverse client base operating in a variety of industries. The Tax Manager oversees client relationships, staff and leaders, to ensure high-quality work is delivered to our clients.
Responsibilities
Tax Strategy and Engagement Oversight
- Develop and implement comprehensive tax planning strategies for clients, ensuring alignment with their financial objectives and minimizing tax liabilities
- Manage a portfolio of tax engagements, supervise tax staff, and review their work to ensure accuracy, compliance, and adherence to firm standards
- Monitor engagement progress, budgets, and timelines, and adjust as needed to meet client expectations
Research and Analysis
Stay abreast of evolving tax laws, regulations, and industry developments, applying this knowledge to client engagements and internal training initiativesCoordinate and complete tax research efforts to address client inquiries, resolve complex tax issues, and guide decision-makingClient Communication
Effectively communicate complex tax concepts and strategies to clients, tailoring explanations to their understanding and addressing questions or concernsPrepare and deliver presentations to clients on tax-related matters, providing insights into their financial situations and potential tax implicationsCultivate and maintain strong relationships with clients, acting as a trusted advisor for their tax-related mattersCompliance and Documentation
Review and oversee the preparation of tax returns to ensure accuracy, compliance with regulations, and adherence to internal quality control standardsMonitor and manage tax filing deadlines, extensions, and other compliance requirements to avoid penalties and ensure timely submissionsStay current with federal, state, and local tax laws, regulations, and changes, ensuring the firm and its clients are compliant with the latest tax requirementsCollaborate with other tax professionals within the firm to share insights, knowledge, and best practicesSupervise and mentor tax staff, providing guidance, training, and feedback to foster their professional growth and ensure the quality of their workCultivate a collaborative team environment, promoting knowledge sharing and effective communication among team membersParticipate in internal training sessions to enhance technical skills and stay updated on industry trendsProcess Improvement and Innovation
Identify opportunities to enhance tax workflows, processes, and methodologies, contributing to the continuous improvement of the firm's tax servicesEnsure compliance with internal quality control procedures, including reviewing and approving tax filings, documentation, and client deliverablesStrategic Business Development
Collaborate with partners and senior management to identify business development opportunities, cultivate client leads, and contribute to the firm's growth strategyParticipate in proposal development and presentations to prospective clientsSupervisory responsibilities

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field5 – 8 years of relevant experienceCPA or Enrolled Agent licenseExperience in professional service environment, such as a CPA firm, financial consulting firm, or similar settingSpecific positions may require additional industry or specialization certificationsResponsible for completing the minimum CPE credit requirementSoftware : CCH Prosystem FX, Axcess Tax, Axcess Document, Axcess Workstream, Thomson Reuters Fixed Assets CS, Checkpoint for Tax ResearchSalary and location
For job postings in our New York City location, we are required by law to include a good faith salary range for every job, promotion, and transfer opportunity in accordance with the New York City Human Rights Law. This range considers factors including knowledge, job-specific skills, experience, licensure, and certifications. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this position is $110,000 to $180,000.
