Client is seeking an experienced Vice President of Finance to provide strategic financial leadership and oversee all financial operations for our nonprofit agency supporting individuals with developmental disabilities. Reporting directly to the President & CEO, this role is responsible for financial planning, oversight, operational controls, and the management of the finance team.
This is a mission-driven leadership opportunity for a seasoned financial executive with strong nonprofit and healthcare-related experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the senior financial leader and trusted advisor to the President & CEO.
- Oversee all accounting, financial reporting, and compliance functions.
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of all ledgers, accounts, and reporting systems.
- Lead monthly close, internal controls, and GAAP compliance.
- Manage annual budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and financial analysis.
- Analyze financial performance, identify variances, and provide actionable insights.
- Lead annual audit process and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors.
- Oversee contract billing, collections, and revenue cycle management.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop finance staff to support organizational goals.
- Update and implement financial policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Prepare and deliver financial reports to senior leadership and Board of Directors.
- Manage leases, contracts, corporate tax filings, and fixed asset schedules.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with banking partners, funding agencies, and external stakeholders.
- Serve as the Corporate Compliance Officer and ensure compliance with agency policies.
- Support positive communication and collaboration across all levels of the organization.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s in Accounting preferred .10+ years of senior-level financial management experience .Healthcare background strongly preferred .Nonprofit (501(c)(3)) experience required , ideally with public-sector funding.Experience working with Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services (DDS) or similar agencies is desirable.Hands-on expertise in journal entries, closing books, reconciliations, reporting, and presenting financials to leadership / boards.Proven ability to manage a complex finance department supporting $35–40M in revenue and 400+ employees.Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.Excellent communication, leadership, and presentation abilities.Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel locally as needed.Must pass CORI and fingerprint background checks.Key Attributes
