YOUR FUTURE TEAM
As part of TCEQ's Office of Air, you would contribute to protecting and restoring Texas' air quality. This position is a member of our Expedited Team in the Air Permits Division. This team reviews air quality applications for a wide variety of industrial sources including, but not limited to, refineries, power generation, chemical plants, oil and gas facilities, metallurgical industries, automotive plants, semi-conductors, surface coating facilities, and many others. This unique position within the Air Permits Division will be responsible for reviewing advanced air permit applications within an expedited manner. See details about what we do.

Texas Professional Engineer's license.
Employees in this classification series may research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure, including but not limited to a communication infrastructure system, cybersecurity system, electric grid, hazardous waste treatment system, or water treatment facility. See Tex. Business & Commerce Code Section 117.001(2). Accordingly, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a requirement to be hired for and to continue to be employed with TCEQ.

TRAINING
The Air Permits Division provides training for new employees, which includes our Air Permitting 101 interactive training modules for staff that provides an overview of the division and responsibilities. Also, one-on-one training is conducted by a supervisor or mentor. For this position as a reviewer on the Expedited Team, prior experience with environmental regulations and reviewing air quality applications is critical in reviewing complex applications within a reasonable timeframe from the hire date.
CURRENT TCEQ EMPLOYEES
This position is also available as a lateral transfer opportunity (LTO) to TCEQ employees within the Engineer I state classification. The selected candidate must meet the minimum qualifications of the corresponding job in the Engineer I series.
Work Schedule
Standard business hours are M-F, 8 : 00 a.m. - 5 : 00 p.m.
Individual and work group schedule determined by the TCEQ Air Permits Division.
