Position Overview

Provides leadership and oversight to the river trek staff and program. Supervise, train, manage, and deliver the river trek. Use the river trek as a vehicle to deliver the Scout Oath and Scout Law.

Key Responsibilities

• Organize / manage 5-day whitewater Treks in New River Gorge National Park and Preserve
• Train, manage, and supervise trek leads in all aspects of trek program and safety.
• Manage and supervise participants to ensure safety and quality of program.
• Maintain trek equipment in an organized and good working condition.
• Implement thorough leave no trace standards.
• Work with National Park Service to identify and participate in quality river service projects.
• Ensure staff receive periodically written performance evaluations.
• Model the Scout Oath and Law in daily interactions
• Maintain a clean, organized, inspected, neat, and safe work area
• Perform additional duties assigned by SBR leadership
• Abide by policies and procedures outlined in the SBR staff handbook
