The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) is responsible for helping to set strategic vision and overall direction for clinical systems in collaboration with senior leadership and the primary care provider team. The CMO will be part of the senior leadership team and will support all directors, medical, and behavioral health professionals to promote health services oriented towards whole person care, population, and community health.

Key responsibilities include promoting high-quality healthcare delivery, managing external partnerships, championing clinical improvement and innovation related to quality, compliance, accreditation, and patient safety. The CMO will lead by example, foster a positive culture, build clinical teams, and ensure infrastructure supports current and future growth. The CMO will also see patients and consult with primary care providers to ensure effective patient management.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Physician Duties

• Provide quality, compassionate, and culturally sensitive health care services to qualified Native Americans in the Klamath Tribes service area.
• Deliver and direct patient care within the scope of privileges approved by KTHFS, including examination, diagnosis, treatment of illnesses, minor injuries, prescribing medications, and performing office procedures.
• Review medical histories and develop appropriate care plans.

Clinical Leadership Duties

Supervisory Controls

Work under the general direction of the Health General Manager, following established policies. Exercise sound judgment and work independently with minimal supervision, researching and solving problems proactively.
