Position Overview :
The Town of Avon, Colorado, is accepting applications for a Swim Coach I - Part-Time / Year-Round
The Swim Coach I - Part-Time / Year-Round
is responsible for providing leadership, direction, hands-on development and implementation with the objective to yield the highest attainable levels of excellence in instruction, as well as individual and team performance for the Recreational Swimming program. This position assists with developing and coaching members of the swim team under the USA swimming guidelines.

Essential Functions :
- Develops appropriate means necessary to offer quality swim coaching while remaining up-to-date on
current trends
Designs, organizes, and directs activities of participants in order to provide a high level of qualityinstruction for all participants
Provides specific and technical feedback to participants both globally as a team and individually tofacilitate improvement
Assist with designing, planning, and implementing a workout curriculum for all levels, working directlywith the Swim Program Supervisor
Works closely with the Swim Instructor and Swim Program Supervisor to identify participants of theLearn-To-Swim program with skill qualifications necessary and / or interests in participating on the swim
team
Establishes and maintains effective and positive communication with participants, parents, andsupervisor
Teaches with encouragement and positive reinforcement and assists participants andparents / guardians in recognizing and understanding swimming developments and achievements
Works with the Swim Program Supervisor on an on-going basis to upgrade, improve and refineindividual coaching skills related to the various age groups and skill levels of the swim team
Accurately tracks participant attendance, progress and payments and submits paperwork and recordsto the Swim Program Supervisor
Enforces pool safety standards and facility operational rules for all individuals and takes proper safetyprecautions, anticipates unsafe circumstances, and acts accordingly to prevent accidents
Reports damage to equipment and / or injuries to participants by completing an Incident Report formwhen necessary and submitting it the Swim Program Supervisor
Educates participants on safe habits and attitudes around aquatic areas and at the Avon RecreationCenter
Recognizes and responds effectively in emergencies in accordance with the Recreation Centersemergency action plan

A minimum of 15 years of age and training in teaching Learn-To-Swimclasses is required. Previous competitive swimming experience preferred or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides evidence of required knowledge, skills and abilities. Water Safety Instructor certification preferred.Employment is contingent upon successfully passing a pre-employment drug and alcohol test and may be subject to random, unannounced drug and alcohol testing as outline in the Towns Drug & Alcohol PolicySpecial Requirements : The Town reserves the right to suspend or extend the posting deadline based on receipt of qualified candidates.
