Unemployment Insurance Supervisor (Compliance)
The Office of Unemployment Insurance Operations (OUIO) administers Ohio's unemployment insurance program, which provides short-term income to unemployed workers who lose their jobs through no fault of their own. It reduces the hardship felt by families during periods of temporary unemployment and bolsters the local economies by maintaining the purchasing power of the unemployed worker.
As Supervisor of Unemployment Staff in the Integrity Bureau you will provide support and direction. This is a unique opportunity to supervise staff who will provide will work within multiple programs in the Integrity Bureau. Knowledge of adjudication processes as well as tax principles will help you provide guidance to your staff.
Challenges : Supporting claimant and employer programs. Pivoting quickly based on program needs.
Necessary Skills : Operation of personal computer and applicable software applications. Ability to interpret extensive variety of technical material related to UI, prepare instructions and specifications concerning application of unemployment laws, handle sensitive inquiries from the general public. Knowledge of UI programs and working experience in UI Tax or Adjudication.
Schedule : Standard workdays are Monday through Friday. Hours are between 8 : 00 a.m. and 5 : 00 p.m.
Travel : Travel required, as needed. You must provide your own transportation or in order to operate a state vehicle, you must have a valid drivers license.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate, at minimum, must have the following : Option 1 : 36 months experience or training in interpreting & applying program eligibility & / or liability rules, regulations & / or procedures (e.g., unemployment insurance, workforce development, workers compensation, human services or income tax law). AND 12 months training or experience in supervisory principles / techniques. Or Option 2 : Completion of undergraduate core program in public or business administration AND 12 months training or experience in supervisory principles / techniques. Or Equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.

Pay Information : This position is in the State of Ohio's E1 Pay Schedule, Pay Range 12. Unless required by legislation or union contract, starting salary will be the minimum salary of that pay range (step 1, currently $32.25 per hour). These ranges provide a standardized pathway for pay increases. With continued employment, new hires move to the next step in the range after 6 months and annually thereafter. Cost of Living Adjustments increase wages in these ranges each fiscal year.
