Sustainability Intern, Climate Corp Intern (SUNY)

This internship with the NYPA Sustainability Team is open to current SUNY Students who are interested in protecting New Yorks environment and supporting our transition to a carbon-free economy.

The New York Power Authoritys (NYPA) Sustainability Team is dedicated to advancing environmental stewardship and promoting sustainable practices within the organization and for our customers. NYPA aims to use sustainable solutions to address business and operational challenges The internship program focuses on one of two main areas : biodiversity or climate resilience depending on the interns terms of biodiversity the program includes water quality improvement efforts natural carbon storage initiatives and biodiversity and habitat improvement programs. For climate resilience the program covers climate-hazard exposure and vulnerability analysis as well as long-term planning for the impacts of climate change on NYPA and Canals assets.

This internship requires a minimum of 20 hours per week and ends in May 2026. Applications are due : November 21 to January 1.

Responsibilities

• Participate in department-specific projects analysis research methods and learn project management skills
• Support team in developing business solutions that contribute to NYPAs VISION2030 strategic goals
• Research industry trends and emerging technologies to contribute to the continuous improvement of our programs
• Other projects as assigned; will vary based on focus area
