Peer Support Specialist

• Schedule : Monday- Friday 8am-5pm
• Pay : $17 hourly
• Increases based on years of experience*
• Location : Salt Lake City, UT & Tooele, UT

The Peer Support Specialist Role and How You WILL Make a Difference

A Peer Support Specialist is an individual who uses their lived experience in recovery from mental illness and / or substance use disorder, in addition to skills learned in formal training, to deliver services promoting recovery and resiliency.

Responsibilities include :

• Maintain a safe and hazard-free environment by observing and documenting client behavior, reporting unsafe conditions, and providing appropriate emotional and physical support
• Assist with providing a therapeutic milieu for clients by encouraging clients to participate in recreational activities and group therapies
• Provide supportive treatment to clients by leading activity / conversation groups
• Assist in the development of client behavioral expectations and with the unit's training and quality assurance programs
• Help with contributing to client treatment, teaching, and discharge planning

Qualifications include :

• Peer Support Specialist Certificate
• High School diploma or equivalent
• One year of customer service, preferably in the behavioral health field
• Due to our commitment to client health and federal mandates, we require that all employees obtain the COVID19 & flu vaccines (provided for free within 30 days of employment if needed).
