Job Summary
A Facilities / Process Engineer performs process and / or mechanical design of oil and gas production, transmission, and distribution facilities, including new installations as well as upgrades and retrofits to existing terminals, platforms and pipelines.
Responsibilities
- Conceptual engineering for new field or plant developments.
- Front End Engineering and Design (FEED) and / or Detailed Engineering for Greenfield or Brownfield design projects for onshore and / or offshore facilities.
- Design of process (production separation, sour production sweetening, oil and gas dehydration, produced water treatment, export metering) and / or utility (fuel gas, chemical injection, instrument air, diesel, heat medium, cooling, drainage, power generation) systems.
- Design and vendor interface for static (pressure vessels, tanks) and rotating (pumps, compressors, engines) equipment packages.
- Piping system design.
- Engineering studies.
- Process Hazards Analysis and Risk Identification.
- Site visits (onshore and offshore) to gather data and survey space / infrastructure for upgrades or remediation.
- Interface with Project Managers, peers, and clients, including attending project meetings.
- Assist Project Managers and multidiscipline design team with project methods; research and implement industry-specific design techniques.
- Evaluate proposed designs for construction efficiency, operability, maintainability, material usage, integrity, and practicality.
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, designers, and drafters for integrated designs that meet project requirements.
- Develop process design basis details and documentation.
- Perform process simulations and develop process flow diagrams with heat and material balance tables.
- Perform and / or review sizing calculations for process and utility equipment, piping, in-line instruments, valves, and pipelines.
- Prepare, modify and / or review data sheets and technical specifications for process equipment, instruments, valves, piping systems, and specialty items.
- Perform and / or review process / mechanical engineering studies and develop associated reports and spreadsheets.
- Develop and / or review P&IDs, mechanical flow sheets, and safety flow diagrams.
- Prepare equipment location plans in accordance with sound design practices, client specifications, and standards.
- Perform design verification reviews of drawings and documents to ensure correctness and completeness.
- Provide technical support to procurement, including bid package assembly and technical bid evaluations.
- Maintain organized server-based project files.
- Provide on-site, onshore and offshore, construction, commissioning, startup, and operational assistance.
- Develop regulatory submittals (e.g., BSEE, USCG, ABS).
- Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Basic Requirements
Must have a BS degree or higher in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.For candidates with engineering degrees attained outside the U.S., the candidate must have attained an E.I.T. designation from a U.S. based state licensing board or provide ABET accreditation documentation.Requires one (1) to five (5) years of engineering design and / or project management experience in oil and gas or related facilities.Familiarity with regulatory compliance (BSEE, USCG, ABS, DNV) and codes (CFR, API, ASME, NFPA) for oil and gas facilities.Experience with sizing calculations, technical specifications, drawings, and datasheets for oil and gas production facilities including equipment, instrumentation, and piping items.Ability to travel to client sites (onshore and offshore).Strong written and verbal communications; ability to interact with staff at all levels.Experience performing and documenting engineering studies for oil and gas facilities.Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently and overtime as needed.Preferred Qualifications
Engineer Intern Certification strongly preferred.Additional Application Requirements

Working Conditions
Work is primarily in an office environment but may include travel to off-site locations.Field duties may involve outdoor work at plant or offshore platform facilities.Interaction with team members, supervisors, and clients.Working offshore or in plant / shop environments with high noise levels.Ability to wear safety equipment as required.Travel to multiple job sites and tolerate climate changes.Occasional travel out of town may be required.Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 pounds.Clear speech and hearing sufficient for effective communication.Ability to sit for prolonged periods; good vision and manual dexterity.Mobility to travel to off-site locations as needed.Drug-Free Workplace
