Description : Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Assistant Laboratory Technician to join our healthcare team. This position combines clinical laboratory skills with medical assistant duties to support patient care and laboratory operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical abilities, excellent attention to detail, and superior patient care skills.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program
- Current Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, or NCMA)
- Valid North Carolina state licensure / certification as required
- Minimum of 1 year experience in a clinical laboratory setting preferred
- Current CPR / BLS certification
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Laboratory Duties
Collect, specimens according to established protocolsPerform phlebotomy procedures and handle specimens appropriatelyConduct routine laboratory tests and proceduresMaintain accurate documentation of test results in laboratory information systemsEnsure proper calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipmentFollow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized workspaceComply with all CLIA regulations and quality control proceduresConduct breath alcohol testing, fingerprinting, and I9 servicesMedical Assistant Duties
Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and proceduresRecord vital signs and patient medical historiesPrepare patients for laboratory proceduresExplain laboratory procedures to patientsSchedule laboratory appointments and maintain efficient workflowProcess laboratory requisitions and verify insurance informationHandle specimen storage and transport according to proper protocolsAdministrative Responsibilities
Maintain accurate and detailed patient recordsEnter test results into electronic health records (EHR) systemsCoordinate with other departments regarding patient careAssist with inventory management of laboratory suppliesParticipate in quality improvement initiativesAttend required training and continuing education programsRequirements :
