Job Summary :
The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of fabrication operations at our McGregor, Texas facility, ensuring the efficient delivery of structural steel, pre-engineered metal buildings (PEMB), and cladding & component systems for global projects. This role drives production planning, resource allocation, workflow optimization, and quality control across prefabrication, welding, blasting, painting, and logistics. By collaborating with engineering, quality, and operations teams, the Production Manager ensures projects meet international standards of safety, precision, and on-time delivery. Success in this role requires a hands-on leader with deep knowledge of manufacturing processes, strong team management skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Responsibilities :
- Oversee the end-to-end production flow at the McGregor factory, from order planning and engineering detailing to final loading and transport, ensuring seamless fabrication of structural steel, PEMB, cladding, and related components.
- Develop and manage production schedules, including detailed planning for prefabrication, assembly, welding, shot blasting, painting, and quality inspections to meet project deadlines and client specifications.
- Lead materials planning and reception processes, verifying stock levels, coordinating purchases, and ensuring compliance with material specifications through dimension, surface, and certificate controls.
- Coordinate shop submittals, launch production orders, and monitor revisions using specialized software to track critical marks, bundles, and progress.
- Manage prefabrication plans, including nesting programs for machinery (e.g., plasma cutters, flange lines), and oversee robotic programming for automated fabrication systems.
- Foster collaboration with quality teams for internal and external inspections, traceability, and dossier preparation, addressing non-conformities and maintaining high standards in dimensional control, NDT, and paint inspections.
- Direct shop production activities, including shift scheduling, worker management, task prioritization, maintenance of machines, and real-time progress reporting via mobility tools.
- Schedule container loading, coordinate transport logistics, and prepare export documentation, ensuring on-time delivery while aligning with global partners and production capabilities.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, such as lean manufacturing, waste reduction, and KPI monitoring for efficiency, deviations, and overall operational excellence.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and government regulations (e.g., OSHA standards).
- Properly use all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Promptly report any accidents, injuries, unsafe conditions, or potential hazards to a supervisor.
- Actively participate in all mandatory safety training, drills, and development programs to improve skills and knowledge.
- Work cooperatively with team members to achieve production goals and departmental objectives.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and codes of conduct.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
Education : Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Management, or a related field, or equivalent amount of experience preferred.Experience : 5-7 years experience in production management within the manufacturing, structural steel, PEMB, or construction industries, with a focus on fabrication processes required.Minimum of 3 years of direct supervisory or managerial experience leading a team of quality professionals.Certifications : Advanced certifications (e.g., Six Sigma, APICS) are a plus.In-depth knowledge of production workflows, including engineering detailing, materials handling, prefabrication, assembly, welding, quality control, and logistics in a high-volume environment.Proficiency in production planning and ERP software (e.g., Strumis or similar systems for nesting, reporting, and stock updates) and familiarity with automated machinery (e.g., robotic systems like Zeman, plasma cutters).Strong leadership skills to manage diverse teams, prioritize tasks, resolve deviations, and promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities for optimizing schedules, mitigating non-conformities, and enhancing productivity through data-driven decisions.Solid understanding of quality management systems (e.g., ISO standards), safety protocols, and regulatory compliance in fabrication and transport.Ability to work on-site at the McGregor, TX facility, with occasional travel to support global collaborations and a proactive commitment to innovation in a multinational setting.Ability to read, write, and understand basic English / Spanish to interpret / follow safety guidelines and work instructions.Good communication and interpersonal skills.Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.Physical Requirements :
Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb for extended periods.Ability to lift, push, and pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds regularly.Ability to work in various environmental conditions common to a manufacturing facility (e.g., varying temperatures, noise levels, potential for dust / debris, wet floors).Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for operating equipment and handling supplies.Work Schedule :
Standard day shift, 8 : 00am – 5 : 00pm, Monday-Friday, with flexibility to support production needs.Depending on production needs, some weekend work may be required.Benefits :
