The Hartford Hospital Public Safety department has been in existence for over 40 years, providing a wide range of security services to the hospital community. The department has over 90 members that are all State of CT certified. Officers receive additional training from a certified in-house instructor upon hire.

Job Summary

Public Safety Officers serve as front-line guardians to the Hartford HealthCare Community by providing customer service and ensuring our environments are safe, secure, and prepared for all of our patients, visitors, colleagues, clinicians, and physicians.

• Provides professional, customer service-focused assistance to the HHC Community, including patients, visitors, families, colleagues, clinicians, physicians, and the first responder community, among others.
• Patrols and rounds facility to identify concerning activity, safety concerns, or other problems.
• Provides a timely response, uses problem-solving to take appropriate action to manage and investigate security incidents and hazards.
• Maintains current knowledge of instructions, policies, and procedures and performs work in accordance with these guidelines.
• Shares information with other Public Safety Officers, maintains accurate activity logs, and completes reports and documentation.
• Partners with law enforcement and other first responders when circumstances warrant.
• Informs supervisor or other leadership of unusual situations and requests additional assistance as needed.
• Completes other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

One (1) year of relevant experience (public safety, corrections, emergency medical services, military) required. High school diploma / GED required.
