Purpose
Our House empowers homeless and near-homeless families and individuals to succeed in the workforce in school and in life through hard work wise decision-making and active participation in the community. The Our House team has defined a set of seven Guiding Principles that characterize our culture and that we intentionally seek to uphold : Hard Work Wise Decision-Making Community Initiative Integrity Safety and Heart.
Service Position Summary
The Social Work AmeriCorps Member will serve within the programs and partnerships Our House leverages to address the mental and physical health needs of adults and addition the Social Work AmeriCorps member will gain compensated on-site field experience supervision and marketable training to support members as they enter into the social work field.
Members will play a critical role in helping families and individuals move toward increased empowerment and health by utilizing the Whole Health Model. This holistic and strategic framework will be used to address all aspects of health while members serve clients specifically focusing on health resources individual and group therapy and connection to benefits. The following position responsibilities include in-person activities in the Career Center Childrens Center Family Support Center and Housing programs.
The Social Work AmeriCorps will serve to increase the well-being of over 175 clients of all ages by providing one-on-one and group therapy sessions to support clients in their emotional well-being. The Social Work AmeriCorps will use the client database to track the number of clients receiving these services and ensure that at least 80% of clients will demonstrate an intent to change behavior to improve their health by logging initial assessment results and consistently tracking client attendance to health-related services.

AmeriCorps Eligibility : AmeriCorps eligibility requires that participants must be at least 17 years of age at the commencement of service; be a citizen national or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States; be high school graduates GED recipients or working toward attaining a high school diploma or GED during their term of service; and satisfy the National Service Criminal History Check criteria.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities Required : The Social Work AmeriCorps Member will be thoroughly committed to Our Houses mission. All candidates must enjoy serving adults and / or children have a positive attitude and a flexible mentality and serve as role models for all Our House clients. Prior experience working with people experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity and mental health issues is preferred but not required.
Academic and Experience Qualifications :
High school diploma or GED required; Must be enrolled in a graduate level Social Work degree program
Service Conditions : Service will be performed primarily indoors.
Commitment Required : 24 hours a week for a nine (9) month term beginning September 15 2025 to May 08 2026 for a minimum of 675 hours at the end of the service term.

Evaluation and Reporting :
AmeriCorps Members will participate in mid- and end-of-term evaluations and reviews. AmeriCorps Members will submit their hours on a bi-weekly basis write quarterly reflections and attend monthly meetings.
