Mechanic III-Heavy Equipment
Join Louisville Metro Government as a Mechanic III – Heavy Equipment. This full-time, regular position involves high-skill mechanical maintenance and repair of automotive machinery within the transportation department.
Responsibilities
- Perform overhauls of engines on trucks, cars, garbage trucks, and other large equipment under general direction.
- Secure parts and components on vehicles.
- Conduct service calls in the field.
- Diagnose defects in automotive equipment.
- Correct breakdowns or problems and repair defective equipment.
- Perform related mechanical work as required.
Minimum Requirements
Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program for mechanics.Two years of experience in mechanical work in a commercial garage.Physical ability to lift and carry items up to 100 pounds in a team setting.Must pass pre-employment and random alcohol / drug testing as mandated by the Department of Transportation.Must wear safety equipment as mandated by OSHA.Must be on 24-hour call and possess a valid driver's license.Special Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with air brake endorsement. If not currently held, must obtain within six months of employment.Equivalency
Additional experience may substitute for the apprenticeship training requirement.Step Progression
