Medical Assistant

The Medical Assistant is a key component of our team that works closely with the primary care physician to deliver excellent patient care to our community, ensuring services are provided within the Medical Assisting scope and state guidelines. The Medical Assistant will be responsible for reviewing and updating health records, measuring vital signs, and preparing treatment rooms for upcoming examinations.
Essential Functions
Education
High School Degree or GED
Licensure / Certification
Medical Assisting certification from one of the following (required within 12 months of start date) : Certified Medical Assistant (CMA); Registered Medical Assistant (RMA); Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA); Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA); National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA); National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT). If incumbent is unable to obtain MA certification, an Assessment-Based Recognition in Order Entry (ABR-OE) is acceptable (not accepted in the state of South Carolina). BLS Basic Life Support, American Heart Association (required at hire for Roper St Francis Healthcare locations; preferred at hire, required prior to independent patient care at BSMH).
Experience
One year of medical assistant healthcare experience (preferred, not required). Two years of clerical experience in a physician's office (preferred, not required).
Skills & Abilities
Possesses problem-solving skills, basic computer skills, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Engage with staff and patients in a professional manner.
