By leveraging the expertise of the Children’s Specialized Hospital Autism Center of Excellence, the program aims to expand access to innovative and compassionate care, empowering children diagnosed with autism to thrive. Children’s Specialized ABA offers home-based, community-based, and center-based ABA therapy.

Join Us as an Authorizations Coordinator
The Authorization Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the timely, accurate, and efficient coordination of client insurance authorizations for Behavioral Health services. This role plays a critical part in maintaining continuity of care by monitoring authorization timelines, submitting requests promptly, and upholding meticulous documentation standards in alignment with payer requirements and organizational policies.
What You'll Do :
Ensure timeliness of reports and authorizations prior to expiration dates
Submit complete authorization request for single case agreements (SCA) including in-network exceptions.
Communicate with insurance companies to resolve issues, appeal denials, and ensure timely approvals.
Engage clinicians when required by insurance providers
Perform accurate data entry in EMR and other software
Ensure that clinical team is aware of upcoming authorization deadlines to drive creation and submission of progress report for re-authorization in a timely manner to prevent service interruptions.
Work with billing team to ensure that all authorizations are properly documented in system.
Proactively identify potential issues in the authorization process and escalate concerns to appropriate departments to ensure timely resolution and prevent service disruptions.
Assist other staff with issues converting sessions in EMR
Assist with the development of policies, procedures, workflows, and step action guides for authorization and billing as well as hand-in / hand-offs with other departments.
What You'll Need
High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
1 to 2 years of authorizations, medical insurance, billing, or claims processing experience.
Some type of behavioral health experience required. ABA preferred.
Experience using an electronic records medical system
Detail oriented, strong organizational, time management, analytical, problem solving, and customer service skills
Ability to multitask and track multiple items at the same time
Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including phone and email
Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Sheets and Google Docs, with strong computer skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing circumstances while maintaining a positive attitude
Work Location & Hours :
This is a full time, 40 per week position, on-site at our Owings Mills EI Center . The core hours are 8 : 30AM to 5 : 00PM EST.

Compensation
The expected salary range for this role is $24.00 to $26.00 / HR.
Final compensation will be based on a range of factors, such as your skills, education, experience, certifications, market conditions, and internal equity. All offers are made in alignment with applicable federal and state laws.
