Salary : $15.00-$17.00 DOE

SUMMER / SEASONAL JOB OPENING

Lifeguard

Season : Memorial Day Labor Day (Training will begin mid-April and will require evening and weekend availability.) Certification must be completed and passed to move forward in this position.

Hours : Shifts are available in 4 to 6-hour increments during operating hours of 6 : 00am -9 : 00pm

Location : Sunset Pool 483 Fairview Ave., Glen Ellyn, IL 60137

Pay Rate : $15 - $17.00 / hr. depending on qualifications.

JOB SUMMARY :

Under the direction and supervision of the Special Facilities Manager, Pool Managers and Headguards, the Lifeguard will monitor and supervise designated swimming areas.

Duties include but are not limited to : maintaining constant surveillance to ensure the safety of participants in the water, slides, water play areas and all areas of the pool, maintaining pool and rescue equipment, keeping daily records, adhering to and enforcing all policies and procedures, completing required in-service training, and maintaining the cleanliness of the locker room and pool deck.

Additionally, will recognize and prevent potential hazardous or accident situations and rescue patrons showing signs of distress.

Will administer swimming test as needed for party and group rentals and perform other duties as assigned. This is an at-will position.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND TRAINING :

• The ideal candidate will be dependable and reliable with a strong sense of safety and responsibility for the care of children and adults.
• Confidence in ability to swim and swim team experience preferred and must be able to swim 300-yards, tread water for 2-minutes without the use of their hands and be able to pick up a 10-pound brick from 12’ of water.
• Ability to focus for extended periods of time with attention to detail is essential.
• Strong and effective communication skills with the ability and desire to provide quality customer service is essential.
• Must be 15 or older with reliable transportation to and from work.
• Capacity to work independently and as part of a team.
• Available to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays and must be available Memorial Day through Labor Day.
• Must have or obtain an Ellis & Associates Lifeguard certification as well as First Aid and CPR / AED certification within 30 days of hire.
• Proficient in MS Outlook or other email system for communication with the aptitude to learn and use other systems / applications.
• Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time in various weather conditions including high heat and humidity.
