TITLE : Vice President (VP) of Sales- Central Region

REPORTS TO : Executive Vice President of Sales

DIVISION : Exempt / Salary

POSITION OVERVIEW :

The Vice President (VP) of Sales role is a leadership position focused on building strong and productive sales teams. This position is established to support and lead assigned territory sales managers. The ideal candidate will support the organizational objectives and implement these objectives to promote a successful team outcome. The VP will communicate and support hitting and exceeding annual sales targets within assigned territory and accounts. Developing and executing the strategic plan with each assigned sales manager to achieve sales targets and expand our customer base is key to success. The goal is to build strong, cohesive teams and business partnerships to enable our customers to understand the value-promise of Gold Star Foods. The successful candidate will be a brand-champion of Gold Star Foods and provide best-in-class customer service while developing and executing a results-driven sales team.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Under the direction of the EVP of Sales, develop and refine all account profiles for the key customers within the geographic boundaries of assigned territory.
  • Assist in the development of annual goals, objectives, and attainable metrics for assigned team. This written plan should encompass strategies for distribution penetration and customer conversion.
  • Daily customer focus on the execution of sales plans for each key customer. Goals and objectives will identify increased opportunities for case movement, leveraging the organization’s strengths in market reach through logistics, customer service, innovation, and best practices.
  • On high profile opportunities, drive engagements and collaboration between GSF’s sales leadership, customer experience team, logistics, bid management, and customer to ensure proper communication and sales success is realized.
  • Develop and execute a weekly cadence for team meetings, which should be well planned with a defined agenda and promote team collaboration. The meetings should include industry updates, sales wins, industry challenges, and promote growth initiatives.
  • Conduct business review evaluations with assigned sales managers and customer accounts using analytics to create relevant reports and infographics. Clearly communicate and relate the results to the customer. Define strategies for improving customer experience and increasing case movement based upon the outcome.
  • Interact on a regular basis through verbal and written communication with the EVP of Sales, other VP regional managers, K12 customer experience, procurement, and bid management team. Communication should focus on market challenges, market opportunities, customer needs, distribution related topics, and relevant business intelligence.
  • Utilizing approved GSF RFP’s and bid documents, update / confirm vendor challenges. Ensure all potential changes in programs / contracts are communicated to EVP of Procurement and EVP of Revenue Management.
  • Coordinate new product requests through the accepted protocol. Communicate new product / pricing requests to Procurement and Bids in a timely manner. Update customer experience team with outcome and ensure order guides are updated.
  • Represent GSF in a professional and positive fashion at various customer conferences, seminars, and meetings. Volunteering for leadership positions in professional associations aligned with Gold Star’s mission is encouraged.
  • Plan weekly / monthly calendar utilizing Microsoft Outlook and execute market strategies based on effective planning efforts. Attending meetings as required and providing timely report feedback.
  • Manage individual expense accounts and ensure expenses stay within budget guidelines. Review and approve team expenses accounts in a timely manner to ensure expenses follow budget guidelines.
  • Coach and mentor assigned sales team, direct customer communication, collaboration with the GSF Customer experience team, logistics, procurement, and vendors to ensure customer service expectations are met.
  • Plan and execute goals and objectives to promote profitably, while strengthening relationships throughout the distribution channel
  • Lead an assigned team to manage all aspects of the value-selling process while utilizing GSF’s policies and procedures established by the EVP of Sales.
  • Daily, weekly, and monthly activities will also include bid management activities in collaboration with the GSF bid team.
  • Manage current customer base while simultaneously developing and expanding the customer base in the assigned territory.

REQUIRED SKILLS :

  • Demonstrated success in forming interdepartmental relationships and leading a sales team
  • Demonstrated leadership skills meeting or exceeding business expectations
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently, with initiative, and good business judgment
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent track record in managing growth businesses in a competitive environment
  • Excellent communication skills and a working knowledge of the distribution process.
  • A passion for excellence and customer centricity.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to draw conclusions and observations from market trends and unit analysis
  • EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE :

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 7+ years direct sales experience in the Foodservice Industry (K-12 School segment) is preferred.
  • Prior sales leadership experience preferred
  • Must be proficient in the use of computers for Word and Excel (spreadsheets), Microsoft Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint Presentations.

    Travel approximately 40-60%. Position will be located in the geographical region of assigned territory as a work from home position as defined by Gold Star Foods.
