Northeastern Junior College invites qualified persons to apply for the Math Instructional Specialist position. Responsibilities of this position are to provide academic support in both general education math classes and Career and Technical Education (CTE) math classes (and other classes as appropriate); tutor students in learning study skills; and teach courses as needed. This position is partially funded by the TRIO Student Support Services grant focused on serving first generation, low-income or disabled students, in addition to working with students who are not grant participants. The math instructional specialist creates a positive and active learning environment for students.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be :

• Tutor students with math assignments in all majors, individually and in small groups, in the Monahan Learning Center (MLC), including SSS eligible and career technical students. Tutor other courses as appropriate.
• Work with faculty to assess tutoring needs, seek appropriate materials and coordinate efforts in tutoring with class requirements. Attend classes as needed.
• Assist in the supervision of the MLC and student tutors in their activities as peer tutors.
• Investigate new materials and methods in content areas.
• Work with the Director of the MLC to establish schedules and procedures for use in the MLC.
• Assist users of computer hardware and software in the MLC.
• Assist in the selection of, provision of services to, and tracking of SSS, SSOS and study skills students.
• Communicate the performance levels, needs and problems in the operation of the MLC to the Director of the MLC.
• Report needs of students, including performance concerns and problem in the operation of the MLC to the director.
• Assist in the keeping of accurate records of all student contacts.
• Perform other associated duties as assigned by the Director of the MLC.

This is an exempt, nine-month professional position at 0.68 FTE (176 days or 1,414 hours), beginning in August 2025. The salary range for this position is $35,000 to $39,000, commensurate with education and experience.

This is a grant funded position which may not be continued when grant funding expires.
