Responsibilities
- Design, develop, edit, and update written content, including FAQs, guides, web copy, printed materials, and scripts for beneficiary communications.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to translate program policies, procedures, and complex information into clear, accessible beneficiary content.
- Ensure all content is accurate, consistent, and adheres to SSA policies, style guides, and branding standards.
- Perform regular reviews and audits of existing materials to identify content gaps and areas for improvement.
- Coordinate with Help Line and program management teams to address beneficiary feedback and emerging information needs.
- Support the development and revision of training materials and job aids for both beneficiaries and program staff.
- Ensure all published content meets Section 508 accessibility requirements and best practices for inclusive design.
- Monitor content performance metrics and collect feedback to inform updates and future content development.
- Maintain version control and proper documentation of all content updates and revisions.
- Assist with content migration and system updates as needed, coordinating with IT and web development teams.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with 0–2 years of relevant experience in content design, technical writing, communications, or a related field, ORHigh school diploma / GED with 6–8 years directly related experience in content development, communications, or equivalent roles.Experience writing, editing, and designing informational content for public or customer audiences.Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills; ability to work with staff at various levels and across disciplines.Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, with demonstrated attention to clarity and detail.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with content management systems and web publishing tools preferred.Knowledge of Section 508 accessibility standards and experience creating accessible content a plus.Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple projects.Experience in quality control, version management, and best practices in documentation.Commitment to upholding privacy, security, and confidentiality in all beneficiary communications.Clearance requirements : Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a SSA Public Trust clearance
